The fourth edition of the new series from Environ: UNCLASSICS - a collection of rare and little-known dance floor oddities, remastered and remixed. Why UNCLASSICS? That's easy: these jams ain't the usual disco suspects. These are funky, forgotten sonic mutants, rescued from underground obscurity by Environ. Discotheque's “Disco Special” (1979) is a gorgeous musical masterpiece both in terms of composition and production. It seems to hit on every aspect of what we love about disco: the electronic synth patterns, the organic drums, piano and bass, and one of the fiercest and elegant percussion breaks put to wax. Zodiac's “Pacific” (1980) was a hit when released in the USSR in 1980, even though you would be hard-pressed to find anyone who knows the track outside that country and time period. Finally we have Eurofunk's “Manshortage,” (1983) a true unclassic.
